SUBMISSIONS CLOSE FRIDAY 15 NOVEMBER |

We invite proposals for workshops at AMSA 2025 Conference, which will form an integral part of the program.  Workshops addressing specific aspects in the context of the conference theme Harmony in Marine Systems” are especially welcome, but other themes will be considered.

Themes exploring significant and/or new insights, technologies or collaborations associated with marine systems are also encouraged, as are themes that spotlight how cultural and traditional knowledge can inform and/or be informed by science.  Workshops are usually run directly before or after the conference and may incur additional charges for attendance. In special circumstance workshops may also run during the conference, but a strong case needs to be made.

We invite workshop organisers to arrange sponsorship for their workshop to cover the cost of venue hire, audiovisual equipment and catering for your participants. Without sponsorship, the conference will need to charge participants to cover these costs. The indicative cost of running a half-day workshop for 30 participants is $5,195, and $5,675 for a full day.

Workshop proposals submitted after Friday 15th November 2024 cannot be considered. Once submitted, your proposal will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee.  The Committee may provide feedback on the proposal and a final updated proposal based on these comments may need to be re-submitted.  Proposals that overlap in ideas and themes may be merged by the Committee.

Please ensure you read the guidelines carefully and are able to complete all aspects of the form before submitting a proposal.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • AMSA 2025 is committed to gender equality and indigenous inclusion.  We will strive for gender balance in symposia and workshops wherever possible and encourage proposals from traditional owners.

  • Workshops are assumed to be open to all conference delegates. If you wish to run an “invitation only” you must make a case for this in your rationale.

  • Please do not submit a proposal if you are uncertain that you will be able to organise and run the submission.  Cancelling these events would cause substantial disruption to conference planning.

  • Workshop organisers and speakers are not exempt from registration fees, travel and accommodation costs.

REVIEW AND RESPONSE

Decision on acceptance of workshops will be made early 2025 by the Scientific Committee in consultation with relevant convenors.
